The Piano Studio
After decades of performing and teaching at conservatories and universities in Europe and Canada, I now maintain a small niche studio dedicated to bringing authenticity and true artistry to every element of performance. My students continue to be recognized nationally and internationally as award and competition winners, with acclaimed performances at Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and Royal Albert Hall.
My work with students supports:
Creating fluid, efficient movement at the instrument
Enhancing nervous system regulation for practice and performance
Building intentional practice time
Bridging the gap between practice and performance
Learning to enhance the expressive result
Cultivating the freedom and capacity to make musical choices while performing
Bringing love of one’s art and confidence for self expression into both practice and performance
Admission to the studio is by audition.
“I started working with Bianca when I was 6, and left her studio when I was 18, to continue my piano studies in Austria. I came from a strict Chinese background, and my parents wanted me to have a highly-trained, methodical and inspirational piano teacher, with a rigorous approach to learning. Bianca met all of their criteria, and I embarked on my journey to learn piano “properly. ” Those were amazingly transformative years, and my learning went far beyond healthy technique, style, sound quality, discipline and artistry at the instrument. I will say it wasn’t always smooth or easy. I went through many ups and down over those years, and through it all - growth, performance anxiety, competition wins and losses, awards, puberty, intermittent lack of commitment and rebellion, and eventually, newly found appreciation for performance and a Carnegie Hall debut, Bianca rode the waves with me with much insight, patience and humour. It was hard to say goodbye, but what a gift the years in this studio have been! Bianca is such a phenomenal teacher and human being! My family and I hold the fondest memories of our time with her.”
